Macron visits Damascus: Syria to rebuild with European and Turkish support

French President Emmanuel Macron became the first Western European leader to meet Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Damascus in a landmark post-Assad visit. The central focus of the talks was how Syria can rebuild its economy and infrastructure after years of conflict. Expert Marc Pierini, former EU ambassador to Syria, said reconstruction will rely primarily on European and Turkish support.
