Hamas hands Gaza governance to technocrats to unblock stalled peace plan

Hamas announced on Monday it would hand over control of Gaza to a committee of Palestinian technocrats after nearly 20 years in power. The move is aimed at kick-starting the second phase of a peace plan backed by US President Donald Trump and reducing Israeli control over the territory. Middle East expert Jean-Paul Chagnollaud described it as an attempt to break a deadlocked negotiation process.
