ABC claims 'The View' qualifies as news exempt from FCC political-guest restrictions

ABC filed a brief with the Federal Communications Commission arguing that daytime talk show "The View" deserves the same news-exemption protections as "World News Tonight" and "Good Morning America." The dispute centres on whether the programme can feature political candidates as guests without triggering equal-time election rules. More than 76,000 public comments have been submitted to the FCC regarding the investigation.
