IO Interactive lays off staff and closes Istanbul studio after Xbox pulls funding
IO Interactive, developer of 007: First Light and the Hitman series, has confirmed layoffs and the closure of its Istanbul studio after Xbox withdrew funding for Project Fantasy, an in-development online RPG. The studio has regained full ownership of Project Fantasy and stated it will continue to build and fund the game independently. The cuts follow a broader wave of Xbox-related studio reductions.
