Doom co-creator John Romero comments on id Software layoffs and calls for digital preservation
John Romero, co-creator of Doom and co-founder of id Software, has spoken out about Xbox's latest round of layoffs at the studio, which hit just as it is launching expansion-sized DLC for The Dark Ages. Romero stressed the importance of digital preservation and protecting id Software's historical legacy. The cuts are part of Xbox's wider division-wide layoffs totalling 3,200 employees across fiscal year 2027.
