Xbox Layoffs Hit id Software Hard — id Tech Engine May Be Dead

Microsoft's Xbox gaming division has shed roughly 1,600 jobs, with another 1,600 planned over the next year — about 20% of the entire division. Legendary shooter studio id Software, creators of Doom and Quake, was reportedly hit extremely hard. Reports suggest the proprietary id Tech engine may be discontinued as a result of the cuts.
