Marine Le Pen convicted of EU funds embezzlement, may still run with electronic tag

A French court of appeal upheld a conviction against Marine Le Pen for systematically embezzling EU funds within her party, the National Rally. Despite earlier statements that she would not run in elections while wearing an electronic tag, she may reverse that position, according to France 24 analyst Catherine Norris-Trent. Le Pen was set to give a prime-time interview on July 7 to address the French public.
