Le Pen's ban cut to 15 months: 2027 presidential race potentially back on
A French appeals court on 7 July upheld Marine Le Pen's conviction for misusing EU funds but shortened her ban on running for office to 15 months, potentially reopening a path to the 2027 presidential race. However, Le Pen is also required to wear an electronic ankle tag for a year — a condition she had previously said would stop her from running. FRANCE 24 correspondent Catherine Norris-Trent reported on the ruling.
