Anthropic's Claude Code secretly tracked Chinese users' data

Claude Code, a tool from Anthropic — a leading rival to ChatGPT — reportedly covertly collected data on Chinese users, detecting time zones, proxy usage and possible ties to Chinese AI developers. Anthropic says the tracking was aimed at preventing misuse and model theft. The practice contradicts the company's earlier privacy pledges.
