Etna Still Erupting — Is It Safe to Travel to Sicily Now?

Mount Etna has been erupting for several weeks, with lava flowing from a vent at around 3,000 metres above sea level since 26 June, heading towards the Valle del Bove. The most dramatic moment came on the night of 29–30 June, when glowing lava lit up the sky above eastern Sicily and was visible from kilometres away. Italy's INGV geophysics institute is continuously monitoring the activity.
