US small businesses increasingly dropping employee health insurance
The share of working-age Americans covered by employer-sponsored health insurance has dropped from 67% in 1998 to around 60% today. Fewer than 60% of smaller firms with up to 200 workers now offer health coverage — an all-time low. Soaring premiums are forcing small businesses to scale back or eliminate health benefits entirely, making it harder to retain staff.
