Austrian court convicts ex-Syrian intelligence chief of torture and sexual abuse

An Austrian court in Vienna found a former senior Syrian intelligence official guilty of torture and sexual abuse committed against opponents of former leader Bashar al-Assad. Two ex-Syrian officials stood trial in the case. The verdict is part of a series of European prosecutions for crimes carried out in Syria.
