Leaving a charger plugged in costs about 1 złoty a year but risks damaging the device

Leaving a phone charger plugged into the wall after unplugging the phone costs only around 1 Polish złoty (about €0.23) per device per year in electricity. Despite the negligible energy cost, experts advise unplugging chargers regularly because voltage spikes can permanently damage both the charger and the connected device. Doing so also extends the lifespan of the charger itself.
