Deadly Rip Currents in the Baltic Sea as Tourists Ignore Red Flags

Many guarded Baltic Sea beaches have imposed a total ban on swimming due to rough conditions and large waves. Despite red flags and lifeguard warnings, some tourists are bathing dozens of metres from shore. The hidden danger beyond the waves is rip currents — powerful underwater flows invisible to the eye that can drag even strong swimmers away from the shore.
