US Strategic Bitcoin Reserve: Government Holds BTC Like Gold, Won't Sell

In March 2025, a US executive order established a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve — a government-held stockpile of BTC treated as a long-term reserve asset, similar to gold holdings. The coins placed in the reserve are not to be sold. Nearly all of the US government's bitcoin has been placed into this reserve.
