According to Point Predictive, so-called bust-out fraud — where criminals build an excellent credit profile before maxing out loans on vehicles and disappearing — has surged 83% over the last five years. The scheme can net perpetrators an entire car collection in under 30 days, exploiting lenders who rely on strong credit scores as a trust signal.
