Burnham adviser Jim O'Neill: UK relies too heavily on the US

Jim O'Neill, the former Goldman Sachs chief economist who coined the BRIC acronym, has informally advised Andy Burnham ahead of his expected appointment as British prime minister. O'Neill criticised Whitehall for being "schooled" to always side with the US, and said 18 months of a second Trump administration should push Britain to seek wider trade relationships. He has not been offered a formal government role.
