Merino's stoppage-time goal sends Spain through as Ronaldo's international career ends

Substitute Mikel Merino scored in stoppage time to give Spain a 1-0 win over Portugal in the World Cup last 16, eliminating the Iberian rivals and almost certainly ending Cristiano Ronaldo's international career. Spain will face the winners of USA vs Belgium in the quarter-finals. Portugal were unable to find an equaliser despite pressure late in the game.
