Cuba suffers nationwide blackout leaving 9.6 million without power

Cuba suffered a nationwide power outage on Monday, leaving the entire population of 9.6 million without electricity after a failure in the national energy grid. State utility Union Electrica confirmed the blackout and said engineers were working to identify the cause. The island has experienced repeated serious energy crises in recent years.
