NFZ Uncovers Neurosurgeon Fraud Scheme Worth 300,000 PLN Per Day

A hospital in Mogilno billed the National Health Fund (NFZ) for more expensive inpatient procedures despite patients being eligible for outpatient treatment, fraudulently claiming higher reimbursements. NFZ spokesperson Jakub Gołąb told PAP that the scheme generated up to 300,000 złoty per day in fraudulent claims. The fraud was uncovered during a routine audit of hospital billing.
