Unexploded bombs from old wars still haunt Laos decades later

Laos remains one of the most heavily bombed countries in history, largely due to wars in the second half of the 20th century. Unexploded cluster munitions continue to litter rice paddies, forests and rural pastures, posing a deadly threat to civilians. Demining teams are systematically searching affected areas, and Laos is preparing to host a review conference of the Convention on Cluster Munitions.
