Earth reaches aphelion on July 6 at 152 million km from the Sun

On 6 July 2026 at around 17:30 UTC, Earth reaches aphelion – its farthest point from the Sun this year – at 152,087,774 km. In January's perihelion, that distance was 147,099,895 km, a difference of nearly 5 million km. The aphelion does not significantly affect summer temperatures in the Northern Hemisphere, as seasons are driven by Earth's axial tilt, not its distance from the Sun.
