Warmia and Mazury roadside alleys protected as part of national defence
Poland's ministries of climate and defence jointly concluded that the historic roadside alleys of Warmia and Mazury are a component of national military security, not merely a cultural landscape heritage. The tree lines provide natural cover and obstacles that hinder enemy reconnaissance drones and vehicles. The joint position has already resulted in concrete administrative decisions protecting the alleys from being felled.
