Spain heatwave killed 1,028 in June as red alert issued

Spain's Ministry of Health reported 1,028 heat-related deaths in June, the hottest such month since 1961. A red alert has been issued for the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands, popular tourist destinations. Extremely high UV radiation and wildfires pose additional dangers to the large numbers of tourists currently visiting the country.
