Berlin Blocks Fast Expansion of Eastern Railway Line Toward Poland

Germany's Federal Transport Ministry has stated it sees no need for the rapid expansion of the Eastern Railway (Ostbahn) line from Berlin towards Kostrzyn nad Odrą on the Polish border. The decision disappoints cross-border regional authorities in both Poland and Germany who have lobbied for years to accelerate the project. The Ostbahn is one of the main rail links between the two countries.
