First mushrooms after heatwave — porcini and chanterelles fill baskets

Early July brought the first wave of mushroom picking in Poland after a prolonged heatwave. Foragers are sharing photos of full baskets on social media, featuring porcini, butter mushrooms, russula and chanterelles. The surge in mushroom growth followed long-awaited rainfall in several parts of the country.
