73 drownings in Poland since late May — June toll twice as high as in 2025
Since the end of May 2026, 73 people have drowned in Poland, including 64 in June alone — more than twice the number recorded in the same period of 2025. Sebastian Kluska, director of the Maritime Search and Rescue Service, warned that "Neptune does not forgive mistakes" and urged the public to exercise caution near water. Emergency services are conducting rescue operations almost daily and are calling for greater public awareness of water safety.
