"Toy Story 5" stays No. 1 globally with record-breaking Japan opening
"Toy Story 5" held the top spot at the global box office with $69.3 million in weekend earnings, boosted by a record-setting Japan opening of 2.65 billion yen ($16.5 million) — the best-ever debut for a foreign film in that country. Illumination's "Minions and Monsters" failed to dislodge Pixar's sequel. The uneven contest was partly the result of each studio's own distribution decisions.
