China fires long-range missile into Pacific; Australia condemns test

China conducted a long-range missile test in the Pacific, with a dummy-warhead missile landing in designated waters, state agency Xinhua reported Monday. Beijing described it as a routine part of its annual military training and said relevant countries were notified in advance. Australia, which confirmed it received prior notice, formally condemned the test as "destabilising to the region."
