Ukraine's Economic Model Is a Major Obstacle to EU Membership

Despite Ukraine's battlefield successes and Zelensky's active diplomacy, the country's economic model poses a serious obstacle to EU membership. The economy remains burdened by oligarchic structures, corruption and heavy reliance on raw material exports. Without deep economic reforms, the return of refugees and European integration look unlikely in the near term.
