Masters of the Universe reboot earns $110M against $170–200M budget

After grossing just over $110 million at the worldwide box office, the 2026 reboot of Masters of the Universe has been widely considered a major financial disappointment, significantly underperforming despite its star-studded cast. Led by Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man (the former Prince of Eternia) , the fantasy film was made on a massive $170–200 million production budget. It marks the second live-action film adaptation in the iconic sword-and-sorcery franchise, following the 1987 cult classic starring Dolph Lundgren — who was admittedly confused by the reboot's box office struggles. In the film, Galitzine's character attempts to save his home world, which he had fled for his own protection, returning after 15 years to find it shattered under the barbaric rule of Skeletor.
