Astronomers characterise TOI-201 c, the longest-period transiting brown dwarf with measured mass

An international team including researchers from ESO and INAF has characterised TOI-201 c, a transiting brown dwarf with the longest orbital period for which mass has been measured, publishing their findings in Nature. The system is compact and coplanar, and the presence of a massive, eccentric outer object redefines the stability boundaries for the inner planets. The discovery offers new insights into planetary system formation.
