Florida Republican calls deporting 350,000 Haitians with TPS a 'huge mistake'
Republican congressman Carlos Giménez of Florida publicly broke with the Trump administration, urging the White House to reconsider ending temporary protected status (TPS) for roughly 350,000 Haitian migrants. Following a US Supreme Court ruling allowing the administration to cut TPS, Giménez warned that returning Haitians to their "failed state" would be a grave error. The Cuban-American politician is one of the few Republicans to publicly oppose the move.
