Homo floresiensis butchered bones and used tools, taphonomic study reveals

A new taphonomic analysis of bone remains shows that Homo floresiensis — the so-called "hobbit" from the Indonesian island of Flores — possessed more advanced behavioural and technological capabilities than previously thought. The study, published in Science Advances, provides evidence that the species butchered bones and used tools. The findings offer fresh insight into the cognitive abilities of this extinct hominin.
