'Young Washington' breaks Angel Studios record with $20M+ opening, sequel '1776' in development

Jon Erwin's historical film "Young Washington" set a new live-action opening record for Angel Studios, grossing over $20 million in its debut weekend. The faith-based studio previously broke out with the 2023 trafficking thriller "Sound of Freedom," which opened to $19.6 million in three days. Angel Studios has already announced a sequel titled "1776" is in development following the strong result.
