Super Typhoon Bavi hits Guam with winds up to 280 km/h
Super Typhoon Bavi, equivalent in force to a category-5 hurricane, struck Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands with sustained winds of up to 280 km/h and gusts reaching 333 km/h. The islands were already battered by howling winds and heavy rain on Sunday evening ahead of the storm's projected landfall early Monday. The Joint Typhoon Warning Center issued the warnings for the US Pacific territories.
