Pope Leo XIV heads to Castel Gandolfo, suspending audiences until August

Pope Leo XIV will leave the Vatican on Sunday for the Apostolic Palace in Castel Gandolfo, where he will stay until 27 July. All papal audiences are suspended for the duration of his stay. Wednesday meetings with the faithful in St. Peter's Square will resume in early August. With this move, Leo XIV revives the tradition of summer papal residency that his predecessor Francis had abandoned.
