Eight shot in New York and Brooklyn Bridge fire mar 250th US Independence Day

At least eight people, including four children, were shot in New York City during celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of American independence, according to the NYPD. A 21-year-old woman is in a critical condition. Separately, a fire broke out on the Brooklyn Bridge, reportedly sparked by a fireworks display.
