WIBOR to be replaced by new benchmark rate from 2027

From 2027, Polish financial institutions will be required to use a new reference rate instead of WIBOR in new loan agreements, Deputy Finance Minister Jurand Drop told PAP. The change will apply to mortgage contracts among others and is not meeting resistance from the banking sector. WIBOR has long been criticised by borrowers for its susceptibility to manipulation.
