UCLA scientists find Achilles' heel in aggressive RB-deficient cancers: the protein E2F3

UCLA researchers have identified that aggressive small cell cancers lacking the RB gene become critically dependent on the protein E2F3 for survival. Blocking E2F3 shut down tumour growth in lab models. Crucially, existing FDA-approved drugs may already be able to exploit this vulnerability, potentially speeding up the development of more effective therapies.
