Ancient Settlement with Basilica Unearthed in Egypt's Dakhla Oasis
Archaeologists have uncovered a mud-brick residential settlement at Ain el-Sabil in Egypt's Dakhla Oasis, dating to the late Roman Empire or early Byzantine period. The well-planned town features streets, houses, a basilica, defensive structures and hundreds of ostraca — pottery sherds used as writing tablets. The discovery offers new insight into daily life in the region during antiquity.
