Heatwave disrupts US 250th anniversary — parades cancelled, 840,000 homes without power

On Saturday, as Americans celebrated the 250th anniversary of US independence, extreme heat forced the cancellation of parades in Washington and Philadelphia. Events in other cities were shortened or postponed, and more than 840,000 households lost electricity. Thunderstorms were also possible later in the day.
