Astronomers call for cap of 100,000 faint satellites in Earth orbit

The European Southern Observatory (ESO) has called for a limit of no more than 100,000 faint satellites in Earth orbit, warning that growing commercial constellations such as Starlink are increasingly threatening astronomical observations and dark skies. The recommendation is directed at regulators and satellite operators worldwide.
