Rebels attack northern Mali towns – expert says some targets were diversions

Mali's army reported Saturday that rebels attacked several northern towns, including Gao and Sévaré. A rebel group simultaneously announced a new offensive to capture a town in the country's north. Expert Andrew Lebovich of the Clingendael institute said some targets were diversions, with strategically important Anefis being the true priority.
