Intestate inheritance in Poland: who inherits and in what order?
When a person dies without a will in Poland, inheritance is governed by the Civil Code. The first group of heirs includes children and the spouse, followed by parents, siblings and their descendants, and finally more distant relatives. If no relatives are found, the municipality or State Treasury inherits as the last resort.
