A well-known gaming journalist has confirmed that Obsidian Entertainment, the studio behind iconic RPGs, was close to being shut down as part of Microsoft's major Xbox cuts. Behind closed doors, the fate of the developer was reportedly a serious internal concern. The studio ultimately survived, but only narrowly.
