Antarctica's Erebus volcano spews crystals of gold into the air

Antarctica's Mount Erebus, instead of typical lava and ash, ejects tiny crystals of gold into the atmosphere, scientists have discovered. Erebus is one of the few volcanoes in the world with a permanent lava lake. The gold particles disperse in the air and settle hundreds of kilometres from the crater.
