When can a grandchild inherit from grandparents? Polish civil law explained
Under Polish civil law, a grandchild can inherit from grandparents only if their parent has died or if the grandparents left a will naming the grandchild. Without a will, the estate goes first to the statutory first-tier heirs — the deceased's own children. A grandchild is therefore excluded if their parent is alive and qualifies as a primary heir.
