US ranks 117th in accountability index — impunity crisis spreading to Europe

The latest Atlas of Impunity, ranking 172 countries by how far state power operates without accountability, places the United States at 117th — 25 spots worse than Poland in impunity terms, and 30 to 50 spots behind Canada, Germany, France and the UK. Former US ambassador to NATO Ivo Daalder warns this represents the gravest crisis in transatlantic relations since World War II. He argues the accountability crisis is no longer confined to the US and is beginning to spread to Europe as well.
