Wajda's and Polański's classics restored for Venice Film Festival 2026
The 83rd Venice International Film Festival's Venice Classics section will screen 19 restored films, including two celebrated Polish titles: Andrzej Wajda's "Ashes and Diamonds" and Roman Polański's "Cul-de-sac." "Ashes and Diamonds" follows young Home Army soldier Maciek Chełmicki, ordered on the final day of World War II to assassinate a communist party official. Both films are considered landmarks of world cinema.
